San Diego Border Roleplay uses Roblox’s standard movement and camera foundation plus experience-specific actions for vehicles, teams, shops, inspection, and role tools. Roblox officially supports keyboard and mouse, touch, and gamepad input, and can change the preferred prompt when you switch devices. Read the current on-screen binding before trusting any fixed game-specific key list.
Build your control map at spawn
Start away from traffic. Test movement, camera, jump if enabled, Roblox menu access, and basic interaction. Then locate the team menu, vehicle interface, and inventory or tool area without activating another player’s interaction. Write the action name and live prompt, not only the physical button.
Spawn an available vehicle and test enter or exit, steering, throttle, brake or reverse, camera, and any lights or siren granted to that vehicle. Do not assume a key shown for one team vehicle applies to every car. If the interface gives no prompt, check seat, team, focus, and device before trying random keys.
PC keyboard and mouse setup
Roblox supplies familiar default movement and camera controls, while the experience can bind extra actions. Confirm the current bindings through visible prompts and menus. Keep interaction, vehicle exit, team menu, and essential role tools reachable without taking your movement hand away during a busy checkpoint moment.
Test mouse sensitivity and camera mode before driving. If typing in chat captures input, click back into the game world before concluding a control is broken. Avoid external remappers during the first test; they add another layer that can duplicate or swallow input.
Mobile touch controls
Roblox normally provides a virtual thumbstick and touch camera, with the experience adding on-screen action buttons. Hold the device so the movement area, camera space, and custom buttons remain visible. If a button overlaps the system bar or another control, rotate the device once, reopen the menu, and rejoin if the layout does not refresh.
Before driving, identify which touch area steers and which controls acceleration, braking, exit, or camera. Large fingers and a small screen make accidental exits more likely, so test at spawn. For checkpoint tools, tap the target or prompt only after confirming the selected player or vehicle.
Do not use a third-party overlay that asks for accessibility control, account access, or script execution. If the game lacks a touch action, report the exact device, orientation, role, and missing prompt through a safe developer channel rather than installing an injector.
Controller and console setup
Connect the controller before joining and navigate the Roblox menu with it so the client recognizes gamepad input. Use the left stick and camera stick to confirm basic focus, then move through menus with the highlighted selection visible. Roblox can switch preferred input after the latest device interaction, so avoid touching the mouse or screen while mapping controller prompts.
Test vehicle throttle, brake, steering, exit, and camera in a quiet area. Then test one role tool. If the menu accepts the controller but an in-game action does not, record the missing prompt rather than inventing a face-button mapping. The game-specific control sheet has not been verified across controller layouts.
When prompts keep changing
Disconnect unused controllers and stop touching secondary devices. Close chat and shop fields. Reopen the relevant menu, perform one input on the intended device, and wait for the labels to update. Roblox’s preferred-input behavior is designed to follow the device being used, which can make mixed input look like a broken binding.
If prompts remain wrong, rejoin once with only the intended device active. On PC, check the Roblox client before using controller remapping software. On mobile, disconnect Bluetooth devices. Record whether the action still works despite the wrong icon; prompt mismatch and input failure are different problems.
Vehicle control troubleshooting
Confirm that you are in the driver seat, the vehicle finished spawning, and no text field has focus. Test forward, reverse, steering, and exit one at a time. If only one vehicle fails, the issue may be vehicle-specific rather than global input.
If steering feels delayed, compare a quieter server and stable frame rate before blaming the binding. If the vehicle will not pass the checkpoint barrier, wait for approval; current guides report slowdown and barrier behavior as part of the crossing, not as a missing throttle key.
Role-tool troubleshooting
For a scanner, approval, secondary, or arrest action, confirm team, rank, equipped tool, target, distance, and the current objective. A missing prompt can mean the action is not valid, not that a button is hidden. Test with a cooperative player and follow server rules.
Do not repeatedly activate enforcement tools on random players. The Checkpoint guide and role pages explain the correct task sequence. Controls should make a valid interaction possible; they do not create authority.
Accessibility and reliable play
Adjust camera sensitivity, UI scale where available, device orientation, sound, and chat visibility so prompts remain readable. Use a stable control setup over a fashionable one. A clear touch button or comfortable gamepad layout is more useful than copying a keyboard shortcut you cannot reach.
Keep a short device note with platform, input type, role, vehicle, prompt label, and check date. After an update, retest game-specific actions while leaving Roblox’s standard movement assumptions separate.
