San Diego Border Roleplay smuggling is a full route, not a single purchase. Current independent guides agree on the broad sequence: obtain goods near the starting area, carry them through the checkpoint, sell to a buyer across the border, and handle the resulting briefcase money. Official badges confirm the sale, laundering, carry cap, and high-value goal.
Prepare before buying
Complete one legal crossing so you know spawn, the main road, checkpoint zones, and far-side exit. Keep cash in reserve. Identify the current goods interface, vehicle access, reported seller direction, and what happens after a failed inspection.
Read the live item panel. Record the displayed name, cost, risk information, and carry use. Do not rely on an old list; prices, goods, and detection behavior can change during biweekly development.
Find the reported Black Market
Pro Game Guides and All Things How place the goods market on the right side of the starting area, near the vehicle and shop area. Treat that as Community corroborated. Use visible signs and the current interaction label, not a precise coordinate.
The Black Market Location guide gives a landmark method and a recovery path if an update moves the shop. Do not buy until the panel clearly identifies the item and cost.
Choose risk you can afford
Begin with a small load rather than filling the official carry maximum. A high displayed value can come with more inspection exposure or greater capital loss. Because current detection mechanics are not verified here, do not claim that a specific item or starter vehicle guarantees passage.
Keep one variable stable per attempt. If testing an item, use the same route and vehicle. If testing a vehicle, use the same load. A successful run does not prove a percentage; repeat under similar conditions.
Cross the checkpoint
Approach normally, stay in lane, and follow approval or inspection instructions. Current guides report that vehicles slow near the checkpoint and that suspicious goods can be discovered. The official experience itself describes carrying something you should not and hoping agents do not look closely.
If sent to secondary inspection, follow the current path. Do not use an exploit to bypass barriers or scanner interactions. Record what was detected, what was lost, and where you respawned if the run fails.
Find the buyer
The official First Sale badge says to sell smuggled goods to a buyer across the border. That establishes destination side and action, not the NPC’s exact name or building. After crossing, read your current objective or inventory prompt and use visible landmarks.
The Seller Locations guide helps verify the current buyer and laundering destination separately. Stop in a safe area before opening menus so the route does not create an avoidable Police encounter.
Launder the briefcase
Briefcase Business confirms that laundering money from a briefcase is a real step. High-Value Haul requires $20,000 from one briefcase. These badges do not publish the laundering location, fee, duration, risk, or maximum.
Follow the current briefcase or task prompt. Record the amount before and after and whether the money becomes spendable immediately. Do not assume the seller and laundering interaction are the same.
Full Bag and scaling
Full Bag proves a carry maximum. It does not give the number of slots or whether item sizes differ. Test capacity with inexpensive current items only after the route is reliable.
Scale one step at a time. A larger load increases both potential reward and potential loss. Use net profit after failures, not only a successful sale, when deciding whether to continue.
Police and wanted risk
Wanted badges and First Catch confirm that enforcement can continue after criminal activity. Communicate with teammates, know the far-side road, and decide a recovery point before carrying a large load. Do not treat escaping other players as permission to ignore roleplay rules.
If you become wanted, the Police guide explains the official enforcement boundary. Clean Getaway is a badge goal, but its exact completion trigger requires live confirmation.
Recover from failure
Record lost goods, cash, vehicle, wanted state, and respawn. Return to a legal crossing or smaller load. If the market, seller, or scan behavior differs from the guide, trust the current interface and attach a date to the observation.
Do not chase losses by purchasing the most expensive item. A failed run is useful only when you can identify which stage broke.
Smuggling session checklist
Start with a reserve, buy one small load, cross through the normal checkpoint, sell to the current buyer, launder if required, and record net change. Repeat several complete cycles before comparing goods or vehicles.
This guide deliberately omits item names, prices, detection percentages, profits, and coordinates that lack current verification. The route remains actionable because each stage tells you what live evidence to read.
